An entrepreneur who was formally educated as a computer engineer, Khalid Al-Zanki founded LAUNCH ON FIRE, a series of business podcasts, as a brand for budding start-ups. LAUNCH ON FIRE is an online podcast dedicated to entrepreneurship in Kuwait and the Middle East; it allows small business owners to reveal for the first time their business failures, success, tips, and insider information, most of which have never been shared publicly. A new initiative and one of a kind in the Middle East, Al-Zanki aims to educate, empower, entertain, and inspire by spreading knowledge of business and what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur.

Al-Zanki, who personally believes there is always something new to be learned when it comes to success in business, has been blown away by the success of LAUNCH ON FIRE. “It quickly created a buzz surrounded by raving fans. It became an obsession for some listeners; they listen to the podcast while exercising in the gym! The feedback is awesome!” Listeners are always expressing how excited they are about each episode; such feedback is pushing Al-Zanki to compete on a worldwide level, and even in building state-of-the-art podcasts.

Labeled “A True Leader and Entrepreneur 2008,” and “Most Influential Person Online 2010,” Al-Zanki has a positive perspective on innovation and business in the region and believes the Gulf region has brilliant minds and entrepreneurs that are already prolific in different fields. Al-Zanki, however sees room for improvement. When asked about what he would improve, he explains, “I’d set new business and commerce regulations; and hire true leaders in government agencies. And fire all average leaders! Yes, I mean it. Because, it is all about leadership. You have the right leadership, you’ll have an outstanding business environment and economy.”
